Heart Sounds International (HSI) is a ministry of OM Arts that focuses on encouraging indigenous worship around the world. The HSI team for this project will share Biblical principles about arts and worship to encourage the local people to worship in indigenous styles.

The purpose of this project is two-fold. First, the purpose is a vision trip to learn as much as we can about our hosts so as to evaluate the potential for long-term partnership. Second, we will meet a stated need for training in the Biblical principles of arts and worship.

Ministry Details

This, our first trip to Phalombe, Malawi, to work with Chris Kapito and his ministry, New Life Anointed Ministries (both a church and a pastor’s network), is both a seminar and a vision trip. Pastor Kapito and his network identified training in Biblical principles of arts and worship as their greatest need. Therefore, this project will include a seminar that will teach these principles, as well ethnodoxological community-oriented research of this ministry and the surrounding community to evaluate the possibilities for long term partnership. Curriculum for the seminar as well as a research plan will be decided as a team before arriving in Phalombe.

Participant Profile

This trip will prioritize Ethnodoxologists & Biblical Theology of Worship Instructors able to teach biblical perspectives about arts and worship as well as those skilled or wanting to gain skills in on-the-ground Ethnodoxology-style research.
Ethnodoxologists must have experience leading songwriting workshops and academic training in ethnomusicology.
Theology instructors must have experience teaching transcultural worship principles and academic training in theology. Those without experience may apply as assistants. Theology instructors will need to work with the ethnodoxologist to adapt teaching.
Intercessors and Photographers/Videographers are also welcome to apply. Intercessor should have a passion for prayer and initiative to prompt the team and workshop participants to pray regularly.
For photographers/videographers, amateur or professional level skills in photography and/or videography are needed to document the trip for publication. Applicant will need to bring his/her own gear.
