Maputo, Mozambique :: An onboard event for children and staff of IRIS Ministries in Mozambique to experience the ship as well as to be reminded of how precious they are.
Logos Hope crewmembers have been looking forward to participate in programmes together with IRIS Ministries in Mozambique, the notable Christian non-profit organisation that has planted numerous churches and church-based orphan care in all ten provinces as well as main cities throughout the country. Abandoned and orphaned children receive love, care and education through the ministry and come to find the true hope in life.
During the event, children from IRIS Ministries enjoyed an afternoon of games together with crewmembers that showcased the main departments of the ship. From the level of noise and laughter, it was unmistakeable that the children had a ball of a time getting to know more about the ship. As they went through all the games stations, alphabets were collected that spelt “Child of God”. “Being children of God means that we are the prince and princesses of the kingdom of God; that’s the treasure within you,” shared emcee of the event, Ivy Chiu (Taiwan). “We need to be sure about our identity no matter how tough life may be.”
Crewmembers then prayed together with the children as they shared their worries and struggles. One of the children said: “I want to pray that I grow up to become a good person; I don’t want to make mistakes like my dad.” The time of prayer and encouragement brought crewmembers closer to the realities of the lives of the children. The event ended with highly energising dance performances from the children. It was heart-warming to witness the joy and tenacity in each child of God to live life with a smile amidst difficulties.
Logos Hope will continue to have more upcoming programmes with IRIS Ministries during the time in Mozambique.
