Support Services

The primary OM Lake Tanganyika base in Mpulungu is over 1,000 kilometers from the airport in Lusaka, where most supplies are purchased. Some office supplies must be purchased in South Africa and are expensive to transport, too.

Maintaining relationships with supporters and mobilizing for projects and ministries requires a significant amount of communication which is expensive from our remote location. It is also necessary to travel frequently from the base to the individual villages, resulting in additional transport and communication costs. As the projects and ministries at Lake Tanganyika continue to expand and deepen, it is more critical for there to be a strong foundation of support services to serve the missionaries on the team as well as the field’s supporters. Support Services serves in the areas of finance, personnel, IT, communications, mobilisation, and general administration.
